Advanced Materials and Bio-inspired Structures

The College’s primary research focus in the department of Materials Science and Engineering will be on the development of active materials. These materials will have unique functional, structural, electronic, magnetic, catalytic, and optical properties for applications in areas of structures, electronics, photonics, catalysis, energy storage/conversion, environmental remedy, optical sensing, and biomedical research. Many of these materials will be designed so as to sense, react, and report changes in their immediate environment.
