The Kwara State University Library system comprises a Main Library located at the Main Campus of the University in Malete and a branch library each at Osi and Ilesha-Baruba campuses. Its mission is to provide a variety of information resources and services necessary to support the aims and objectives of the University in terms of learning, teaching,research and community service. The two branch libraries are under the Main Library at Malete. When fully developed, the Main Library will have:
· A Collection Development Division, which will be responsible for all the Library’s acquisitions. The Division will comprise an Ordering Unit and a Receiving/Invoice Clearing Unit.
· A Cataloging Division, which will be responsible for cataloging and classification of library materials. This will be made up of a Cataloging Unit and a Book Finishing/Mending Unit.
· A Readers’ Services Division, which will be concerned with various aspects of user services, including reader registration, exit controls, charging and discharging materials, shelving, reference services, etc. It will comprise a Circulation/Reserve Book Unit, a Shelf Maintenance Unit and an Information/Reference Services Unit.
· A Serials/Documents Division, which will be responsible for the development, processing and servicing of journals and government publications.
· A Digital Library to which the two branch libraries will be connected.
· An Audio-Visual Division, which will take care of non-book materials including CD-ROMs and DVDs
