The Kwara State University Malete has established a Centre for Entrepreneurship, with a mission to change and shape the future of Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
The Centre also has a mission to train creators of business and employment rather than seekers of employment in the country.
Presenting the Centre, the Director of the Centre, Dr. Muritala Awodu, said the Centre for Entrepreneurship will teach and train people in the theory and practice of entrepreneurship through, the School of Business and Entrepreneurship and the School of Strategic Business and Ventures.
According to him, these Schools will train Graduates in Entrepreneurship Development programmes that are directed towards value re-orientation in favour of business creation and employment generation, as well as practical skills acquisition.
Others are Business Opportunities Identification Process, Business Planning and Feasibility writing, Resource Mobilization, Provision and Options and Investment Opportunities as well as Business Growth.
The University Don explained that the centre will run entrepreneurship Programmes such as certificate courses, Diploma and post graduate programmes.
Apart from these conferences, seminars and workshops on entrepreneurship development; financing, organization design structures and Business Strategic will be run by the center.
Dr. Awodun further explained that the school will also run support services in the form of consultancies to small and medium enterprises, in various areas that can enhance the successful development of these enterprises.
Strategic training to be embarked upon by the center in the immediate, short, medium and long terms include Water Bottling, Bread Making, Soap Making, Farming and Farm inputs production. Others are estate development, micro finance, crafts making, furniture making, security and secretarial services, among others.
