HARVARD PROFESSOR VISITS KWASU
A Harvard professor, Professor Biodun Jeyifo from the Department of Comparative Literature and African-American studies, Harvard University, together with Ms Cherie Rivers, a Harvard Ph.D. candidate working on African Films and Social Activism and Jon Delonge was today at the Kwara State University to explore areas of collaboration with the Institution.
They arrived on a mission to set up a Film Village for the Kwara State University and also to explore areas of collaboration with the University’s school of Visual and Performing Arts.
The Vice Chancellor, together with three consultants in charge of the University’s building project, conducted the visiting team on a tour to the proposed site for the film village. Facilities at the Film Village would include studios (permanent and mobile) and other basic infrastructures needed for film production.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Professor Abdulrasheed Na’allah, in company of Professor Abiola Irele, a renowned Professor of African Literary Studies from Harvard University, who crossed over to the Kwara State University to serve as Provost of the College of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences, said the University was looking for a private developer to sponsor the construction of the Film Village in the spirit of the KWASU’s Public-Private Partnership policy.
